Roberto Sacchi was born in Novara the 12th
of April 1959, the second of 4
brothers, sons of Adriano and Maria Iride who originate from a modest
farmer’s background.
His infancy is happily spent in the town’s suburbs and surrounding
countryside.
He inherits his father’s passion for music and reading.
In 1965 the family move to the town centre and unwillingly does he
attend school.

His
close affinity with nature and the open air and having a restless
character, Roberto prefers life’s school where there is a “wanting
to do”.
At the age of 12 he dedicates part of his spare time to reading:
adventure stories and classical books reinforce his inborn desire to
travel in order to get to know new countries and antique cultures.
Once finished his compulsory schooling he starts work in the
hotel-tourist sector travelling alternately in Italy and abroad.
Forced by his excessive need to explore the complicated world of the
psyche, he conducts an “on the road” life and in 1985 leaves his job
and being influenced by various Latin-American authors departs for
Mexico.
He
visits the murals in Rivera, Orozco and Siquieros, archaeological sites
and churches and here he discovers the magic and beauty of works on
glass.
Charmed by the particularity of the places, the hospitality of the
people and the diverse ethnic cultures, he returns with renewed spirits
in 1988.
In Guanajuato he meets Enriqueta who becomes his life’s companion and
in 1990 she follows him to Arona in Italy where they currently live.
Forever
searching for that “don’t know what, but something”, starts
drawing and painting as a “self-taught”, using various effective
techniques dictated to him by instinct and Latin-American influences.
The symbolism of the Maya and Aztec cultures of the archaeological sites
lead him to produce several works on glass with a personal technique in
all respects.
In 1997 includes his art name “El Guero” in the signatures of his
works.
Reads
the life and works of the great masters preferring Egon Schiele because
“he is visceral and
transmits strength and powerful expression”.
In 2000 he participates in 4 competitions winning several presentation
prizes and rousing favourable opinions from the public.
In August of the same year participates as a guest in a contemporary
Haitian artists show in Arona.

Roberto,
Arona.
